What Makes A
Martial Arts Univerity
Instructor?
Every member of our Martial Arts University Faculty started where most all of our other members have. They began their training at ‘zero point’. Many of those past or present members of the Instructional Team had no prior martial arts experience whatsoever. Those who came to us with past training were able to adapt their skill over time and integrate their experience into our system.
The common qualities that all members of our Instructional Team possess, are an open mind, a willingness to learn, respect for all people, and a deep reservoir of patience, enthusiasm, and professionalism.
Teaching is one of the most effective tools for improving your own skill and knowledge in this art. In fact, a certain amount of teaching under supervision is a requirement for rank progression at higher levels (above Black Belt).
All of our faculty members who hold the position of Staff Instructor or above, have completed many hours of teaching under strict supervision, hold at least a 1st Degree Black Belt, have completed the MAU Instructor Development Seminar (you may complete this at 5th Kyu – Blue Belt or higher), and are current in CPR, FIrst Aid, Oxygen Therapy, and Automated External Defibrillator use (the MAU also offers this training in the internationally recognized Emergency First Response Programs).
Although instructing duties are not required to earn a Black Belt, we encourage all of our members to undertake this training on their path to the Black Belt. Your life and your training experience will become all the richer for your efforts.
